I make an appointment to go to the client to see what they want to sell and discuss which items are most appropriate for me to sell for them. This is important because some items may not fetch a high enough
price to make it worth having me sell them for the client, and I can also determine the condition of the items. If they are not in good to excellent condition, it is often better for the items to be either sold by
the owner or donated. The goal is to sell each item for the highest fair price. At this point, it is very important I establish a level of trust with the client so they are comfortable with sending their items to be sold with me. I explain the process and what I am committing to doing for the client, and I often do some general research to determine the general price range for the type of items.
I take the items that are agreed to be sold for the client, I take them back to my office to be photographed and cataloged. Each item is assigned a SKU
Once the photographs are completed and edited, I conduct detailed research to determine the best starting price and create the listing on all relevant selling platforms (Ebay, Depop, Facebook Marketplace) Depending on the individual item I will offer worldwide postage to reach a larger audience. I will often send out a listing statement to the client and provide links to each of their listings, so they can watch them if they wish.
Once the listings are live, I will communicate with potential buyers and offer discounts (which are agreed upon with the client) to close the sales. Sometimes, these negotiations are time-consuming and complex.
Once a sale is confirmed and payment is made, I arrange to pack and ship the item to the buyer. Tracking is always used in case there is a problem. At this point, the sale is recorded in my CRM for the Gross sale
price minus the expenses (platform fee & shipping cost), and the Net is divided 75% to the client and 25% to me.
Once I am confident the buyer is happy with their purchase, I provide positive feedback on the selling platform in hopes that the buyers do the same. This is important, as I have an excellent reputation on the selling platforms that I want to grow and protect. Thus, it provides additional legitimacy to my business
Our principal selling platform is eBay because of its strong buyer and seller protections. It is our opinion that it is one of the safest places to sell and purchase items on the internet. It is easy for buyers to see a seller’s track record and feedback. We at Sought Out work very hard to ensure we have an excellent rating and that the buyers are happy. This rating improves the listing position of each item in our eBay Store, increasing the likelihood of successful sales.
